2.45 My Framed Project!!! (And My New Scissor + Fob Collection)

So my first project was off to the framers. Michael's had a Black Friday discount of 60% + 20% off or something... and the framing for this ended up to be $115 or so. (Was going to be $195 but I took off some stuff like the third matting and they had this inner decorative edge.) So I had to wait 2 weeks to get it back... I was antsy and excited.... until I got it back.

They messed up and it was off centered!!! The border top was about 1cm exposed, and the bottom 1cm was covered up!
You can see the 3 rows of emptiness....
So, even though it was nice to see the frame and everything, it had to be sent back.

Two days later... I brought it back and it's fixed!! yay!!!

See how it lines up right to the edge now?
The whole thing, with flash.

A slight close up.
And now... I am happy! Just gotta figure out a place to put it!! One day, I'd love the have the HAED version all stitched up and framed so they stand side by side with each other.

Also... Recently, I went on Ebay and bought some scissor fobs and needle minders from the nicest lady EVER. She and I talked extensively and is an incredibly sweet person. I had these custom made for me, picked out all the charms and beads and she put them together for me. She went above and beyond what I ever expected from a seller. I orginally started with thinking I would just get one. But she had so many things to choose from that I decided to make it into 2 sets, 1 of them being a Christmas themed one as it is so close to Christmas.

Set #1! With butterfly needle minder.
I originally fell in love with the bubble heart charm, added the rhinestone seashell, and she special ordered the chihuahua charm for me! It was just so gorgeous!

Christmas set! With snowflake needle minder.
Then, I found the snow flakes, and rhinestone heart, and she told me she had these angel wings and gorgeous enamel bell and glass bead.... So, there were wayyyy to many charms to fit into one, and I made the second set. I looooved them.

So, of course now that I have two sets, I needed more scissors to go with them! While I was at Michael's dropping off my frame to be fixed, I saw the Gingher Lion Tail ones. Since I already had the gold stork and couldn't seem to find online the chrome stork scissors, I decided to get the chrome Lion Tail ones. Then.... when I went to pick up the frame, I saw that the Lion Tail ones were in the wrong place! And they were covering up the Chrome Stork ones just underneath!! I, of course, had to get them! Now, I have my little scissor collection. Who knew I'd love scissors? But now, it seems I am missing 1 fob set... hrmmmm....

The twin storks and their fobs.
The lonely Lion Tail without his fob =(
That's all for now!!

2.10 - Completion!!!

I have finally completed my first project! Firstly, I would just like to say a few words.  This project took a lot of hours, there are times where it all seemed so hopeless, all the trials and tribulations, threads breaking, knotting, and tangling.  All the times I had to hope that the thread will last to the last stitch so I don't have to get a new thread, of trying my hardest to keep things tidy. It wasn't easy. There are a few people I'd like to thank. I thank Kat for getting me started on cross stitching, it was enjoyable. I thank Sarah for her hours on skype with me while I stitched away, bitching about messing up and missing stitches. I thank Ian for not bugging me while I do this all the while neglecting my household duties, like cooking, cleaning, sleeping....... basically, everything. Lastly, I thank myself, especially my fingers... They got pricked a few times, so I thought they deserved mentions. Oh, before I forget, I also thank all the online stores that I bought stuff from... WHEEEEE (which I suppose I owe Ian another thanks for letting me get all the stuff >.>). Either way! Without further ado, my completed project!

This is of the picture completed without all the back stitching and french knots, so, a couple of days ago. It's nice to see what the little details adds to the whole picture.

This is just after my last french knot. I have discovered, I like french knots. They are adorable little roses.

This is with the gridding threads out. Looks nice, if I do say so myself.

Now come the close ups:

Here we have the french knots which make the stars in the sky on the top right:

The french knots down the centre making the fairy dust (or at least I think it's fairy dust)

I have also discovered.... I HATE blending filaments... They are curly! and tangly! and twisty! and flimsy! If they weren't so pretty and sparkly, I might not have done them at all!! Okay, well, I would have.... But I'd complain about it! Well, okay, I did complain about it... But I'd complain even more so! (hard to imagine it's possible, but it is!)

Here's the other side of the sky... Did I mention I love the look of french knots? and doing them?

The fairy with wings... WHEE...

And I DID say I like the sparkly right? and french knots? Yea? Just making sure....

Here is the 'grass'. Nice and wispy...

And more grass... I hate back stitching, it's slow...and annoying...because of all the research I had put in to make sure I was doing it right, then it turned out, I was doing it wrong, because, for Dimentions kits, you're apparently SUPPOSED TO carry thread, rather than stitch individual squares like EVERY OTHER TUTORIAL TEACHES. Yea....

So I had to pull out the first few sets of back stitching I did (since they just sank into the stitches on the side and I couldn't see them, being they're black on black), it was, annoying.

And  SINCE I had to put in so much work, you'd better see ALL of it >.>

Oh, there IS one thing that held me back on absolutely loving the french knots... It's the back. My back wasn't perfect before, but at least it was nice and  organized. However, since this piece isn't fully stitched, and the stars were sprinkled  everywhere... Well, I've had to carry threads everywhere... with no place to hide them... Let's just say, I was NOT happy with this.....

And here we have the bottom left corner, with the reflection in the water...

And here's the bottom right corner... (I know it's boring, but it's my first project... Think of it like a mother with her newborn, you're gonna see all the monotonous crap, deal with it!)

And the reflection in the middle... Ahhhh... That is all. I might go and frame it. I can't wait for my next project!

And, for no reason whatsoever, here is a picture of Squeaks, being King, ruling over his laundry pile kingdom. Don't ask why the laundry isn't folded yet... That is a question for another time... or, you know, never...

And Odette, looking adorable. (it was hard taking a picture without cutting out her ears since she kept moving!

Now, onto the next project!

2.7 The Final Stretch... of my first project!

Essy here, and.... The end is in sight!!

This is pretty much all it has left!!! (Well, except for back stitching and french knots and what not >.>) but anyways! This is getting ever closer!

The green part that I coloured in is what I did yesterday alone. This is looking quite colourful :D I wonder if I can finish this tonight with the help of a Doctor Who marathon XD

2.5 My cross stitch update, and why I need a new camera!

This is Es here... So, this is my most recent update....

The bottom two pages are completely done, I need to fill in the entire circle in the middle and outline it some more. Then a few sporadic stitches on the sides and backstitching, and it will be done... I MIGHT leave the backstitching for later >.> just because I want to start on another project... But we'll see how much patience I have...........

This is an up close shot of all the darn half stitches which are driving me insane... I like full crosses, thank you very much.....

This is the pattern, coloured over in my fun fun fun erasable highlighters... LOVE the things :D On a side note, it's glaringly obvious from this picture, why I NEED a better camera... it looks like shit >.> with all the blurs... bleh I can't decide between two of them =/ and the more I search, the more options come up! D:  HALP! that is all, for now.....
