2.47 - Rose of Sharon Dec. Update

Hello everyone, Sarah here. Have a 2 week break from classes and finally have a way to update the blog again! Had to have either Kat or Es upload pictures for me before for me to write stuff to. Apparently you can't upload pictures here from an ipad. Anyway for an update of Rose of Sharon! Yes it has been about a month since I've updated so here goes.

I have started to work more on her dress on the lower right side.

Sorry this is a bit blurry, light wasn't that great. More done on her dress though!

Did a bit of the grass on the left side to be able to start work on the lower part of the left pillar!
Starting to look so beautiful if I do say so myself!

Now for a few pics of pretty things I got for Xmas this year :D

Lion King, gotta love it!

Pokemon charms for the phone!

Just for Es, I promised pictures of all the floss I got today on sale!

And finally, on a more somber note, my Aunt passed away and in honour of her memory I have picked out a HAED pattern to do for her. It is Butterfly Wood. Chart Design by Michele Sayetta and Artwork done by by David Penfound Artworks.
This is the picture

What I have done so far, not much because I've been focusing on Rose, but a start non-the-less.

That's it for now. Will update again when I get more done on either :)!

2.46 Tarot: Death update

The very top left corner

The cool purple at the bottom, cos I got bored of yellow.

And then I decided to do stuff in the middle.

2.45 My Framed Project!!! (And My New Scissor + Fob Collection)

So my first project was off to the framers. Michael's had a Black Friday discount of 60% + 20% off or something... and the framing for this ended up to be $115 or so. (Was going to be $195 but I took off some stuff like the third matting and they had this inner decorative edge.) So I had to wait 2 weeks to get it back... I was antsy and excited.... until I got it back.

They messed up and it was off centered!!! The border top was about 1cm exposed, and the bottom 1cm was covered up!
You can see the 3 rows of emptiness....
So, even though it was nice to see the frame and everything, it had to be sent back.

Two days later... I brought it back and it's fixed!! yay!!!

See how it lines up right to the edge now?
The whole thing, with flash.

A slight close up.
And now... I am happy! Just gotta figure out a place to put it!! One day, I'd love the have the HAED version all stitched up and framed so they stand side by side with each other.

Also... Recently, I went on Ebay and bought some scissor fobs and needle minders from the nicest lady EVER. She and I talked extensively and is an incredibly sweet person. I had these custom made for me, picked out all the charms and beads and she put them together for me. She went above and beyond what I ever expected from a seller. I orginally started with thinking I would just get one. But she had so many things to choose from that I decided to make it into 2 sets, 1 of them being a Christmas themed one as it is so close to Christmas.

Set #1! With butterfly needle minder.
I originally fell in love with the bubble heart charm, added the rhinestone seashell, and she special ordered the chihuahua charm for me! It was just so gorgeous!

Christmas set! With snowflake needle minder.
Then, I found the snow flakes, and rhinestone heart, and she told me she had these angel wings and gorgeous enamel bell and glass bead.... So, there were wayyyy to many charms to fit into one, and I made the second set. I looooved them.

So, of course now that I have two sets, I needed more scissors to go with them! While I was at Michael's dropping off my frame to be fixed, I saw the Gingher Lion Tail ones. Since I already had the gold stork and couldn't seem to find online the chrome stork scissors, I decided to get the chrome Lion Tail ones. Then.... when I went to pick up the frame, I saw that the Lion Tail ones were in the wrong place! And they were covering up the Chrome Stork ones just underneath!! I, of course, had to get them! Now, I have my little scissor collection. Who knew I'd love scissors? But now, it seems I am missing 1 fob set... hrmmmm....

The twin storks and their fobs.
The lonely Lion Tail without his fob =(
That's all for now!!

2.44 The Artworks

The colour pinwheels

And my version of the 4 seasons

2.43 Update from Kat

Stitching update before I forget...

So the Tarot: Death is doing ok, I've just been enjoying the sun more of recent.  And my new art project, but I forgot to take pics of that, and I'm not putting yet more photos on my computer, making it the third effort in the last ten minutes alone.....

Instead, I shall leave it with sunrise yesterday morning.

2.41 The new stitching project and artwork

Yups, as if I don't already have enough projects on the go, I went and started another one.  I couldn't help it.  It was so pretty, and I've been eyeing it up for MONTHS.

Then Kaz came to visit, and decided to get it for me for my Xmas gift.  <3

When finished, it shall look like this:

Given it's 200 stitches wide, and 334 stitches high, and I'm doing it on 28 count evenweave .....let us just say it will take a while.  But so pretty....It's another HAED picture, by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law, and it's part of her Tarot series.  This one is Death.

Stitching after the first day.
But things haven't been just stitching.  No, I've managed to time the sunrises and sunsets, in order to get more pictures (if only we hadn't been having these fog issues, I would actually HAVE more to show off), I've been doing more Peter Rabbit pictures, AND tried my new art project.

Such a simple concept, but omg it turned out well.
And the best thing about this new art project?  I have so many new ideas of how to make it better and more fun.  Mwahahahahaha

2.40 - New Organised Stash!

So, as I said previously, I FINALLY organised my floss, had them all sorted onto bobbins and properly labeled and placed into storage containers. I also took inventory of everything I have and purchased an extra of every one I only had one skein of... This is the result of today's shopping trip!

Kat's
Minus a few colours that the store ran out of, that would be the missing colours for Kat to have a full complete set!

My Stash (I almost feel guilty posting this)
The winding and sorting of this gave me headaches and tummy aches! But, it's finally done! Now I'll only have to wind up skeins when they are used up. *sigh of relief*
LOOK! WELL ORGANISED BOX!

All the pretty colours make me smile.

Extras - Until I get a bigger drawer container...

2.39 Flowers, sunsets and the kitty

Mother's most 'famous' rose, Loving Memory.  Due to the placement of it, I get A LOT of pics.

The small, but growing fuschia bush.

One of the two colours of daisy mother...'appropriated' from my brother's garden.

I think this is an iris, but not sure...whatever it is, it's currently my desktop regardless.

The adorable Baby.  Sprawled out in front of the fire, totally asleep and relaxed.  Is this a sign of trust or what?  Also, contortism. How does she SLEEP like that??

The sunset the other night.

The colours as the Nor-west winds blew through were stunning.

Makes even more of an impact with the blue sky for contrast...

2.38 - Anniversary Dinner!

So, a couple of weeks ago, it was mine and Ian's anniversary, and we went out to a nice dinner. We went to a place called Sushi Ota, apparently one of the highest rated sushi restaurants in San Diego. It was omnomnomnom!!!

Calamari

Agedashi Tofu
 This sashimi was SOOOO delicious!
Otoro and Salmon Belly Sashimi
Ian's combo came with fresh sashimi, calamari salad, baked seafood, seaweed salad, rice and some sushi.
Ian's Combo
This was what totally drew me in to the restaurant : Chirashizushi. It had chutoro, uni, salmon, mackerel, sweet prawn, squid, tamago, and hokkigai (surf clams).
Chirashizushi
 And, of course, selfies!
I LOVE THIS SWEATER! It's finally chilly enough to wear it.
 Ian...looking... I'm not sure... >.> He's weird....

That's all, folks!!
